* Any location outside of 30 road miles from Clayton, WA there will be a mileage

Example: Your home is 40 miles from Clayton, WA. This would

is a time and fuel charge and applies to the trip, not to the number of animals
trimmed.
Initial Set-up Trim - First Visit
I'll evaluate your horse for safety first. All I ask that
you be totally honest with me about your horse or mules behavior
while having his/her feet trimmed. My service isn't about training
your horse or mule to have his/her feet messed with. My service is
the care of the hoof and the horse as a whole. If it is determined that your
animal is not safe, I will not be able to work with him/her.
- I'll explain what I'm doing during the trim so that you will have a basic
understanding of what and why
- You are free to ask questions, in fact, I encourage you to.
- I'll take photographs documenting the condition of each hoof before and
after trimming of each hoof on the animal. This allows us to
see the improvement following the initial "set-up" trim as well as
provides a baseline for monitoring proper hoof form development
based upon the natural trim method over time.
- I'll evaluate each animal for various pathologies of the hoof and discuss
with you.
- Any serious thrush infections must be treated with a hoof soak. I would
be using White Lightening and EasyCare Soaker boots. There will
be an additional charge of $3.00 per hoof to cover the cost of
supplies. Mild cases of thrush can usually be treated topically.
- Other treatments may be required and will be discussed on a case by case basis.
Follow-up Maintenance Trims
Usually 4-8 weeks apart depending upon the individual animals needs and time of year.
Boot Fitting
This service is at no charge with the purchase of a pair of hoof boots. Equine boots have improved greatly over the years, though they are not yet perfect for every horse or mule. We will determine what size is needed and I will adjust the boots to fit a specific horse or mule. This includes improving the factory breakover of the boot, adding comfort pads, drilling the boot for drainage and adjusting the boot for the best fit for your horse or mule. If I do not have the boots you need in stock, I will order them and deliver them to you, customized and ready to fit.
See Boots for further information about booting.
